The Atlanta-based actress worked in Georgia, as a casting director for film and commercials from 2000-2010 and appeared in numerous short films. McBride was chosen as a character in the 2007 film by Frank Darabont as the mother of the kids at home along with Thomas Jane Laurie Holden, Marcia Gay Harden and Thomas Jane Laurie Holden. McBride was pursuing a bigger role in the film but refused to give up her casting job. Following the film her appearance, she was on Lifetime's television film Living Proof.
